The tone generator plays pure sinusoïdal notes according to your selected tunings. You can also see the frequency of each note played. This is useful when working on tuning : to tune a string instrument such as tanpura or sitar.
It is not recommended for concert as its sound is not made to be pleasant. It’s a tool.
It is composed of several notes, which you can tune according to the selected musical scale.
But, at the difference of the other instruments, a note tuning can be changed by using its cents fine tuning. Obviously, then the note will become out of tune with the tanpura and the shruti notes, so you shouldn’t use them together.
In some case, this may be very useful:
- If you want to use your own sound sample for the tanpura or the shruti, you can figure out its needed tuning correction to fit the selected studio tuning by paying it along with the tone generator and changing the generated note cents until it match your sound sample. By doing this, you obtain the deviation of your sound sample with the selected A440 and base note tuning.
- etc.
